Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn, approximately 1000 yards
- Crochet Hook: Size H/5mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge
14 stitches and 10 rows in double crochet = 4 inches
Stitches Used
- Chain (ch)
- Single Crochet (sc)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
Pattern Notes
This pattern is written in size Medium. Adjust for sizing by increasing or decreasing the starting chain by multiples of 4. Remember to adjust yarn quantities accordingly.
Instructions
Back Panel
- Ch 74. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across, turn. (72 dc)
- Rows 2-40: Ch 2, dc in each stitch across, turn.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Front Panels (Make 2)
- Ch 38. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across, turn. (36 dc)
- Rows 2-40: Ch 2, dc in each stitch across, turn.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sleeves (Make 2)
- Ch 50. Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across, turn. (48 hdc)
- Rows 2-32: Ch 2, hdc in each stitch across, increasing 1 hdc on each side every 4 rows, turn.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly
- Lay back panel flat and align one front panel on each side. Seam shoulders using sl st.
- Align sleeves to armholes and sew using sl st.
- Sew the sides of the cardigan and the sleeves.
Finishing
- Attach yarn at the bottom corner of the opening. Sc evenly around the edge of the cardigan, including the front opening and neckline. Work 5 rows of sc for a neat border.
- Fasten off and weave in any remaining ends.
