Materials

  • Yarn: Worsted weight in taupe, approximately 1000-1200 yards
  • Crochet hook: Size H (5 mm)
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Buttons: 7-8 wooden buttons, 1 inch in diameter

Gauge

14 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in single crochet

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • yo: yarn over
  • bobble: 5 dc cluster in the same stitch
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • st(s): stitch(es)

Pattern

Yoke

  1. Foundation Row: Ch 80, join to form a circle, being careful not to twist.
  2. Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc. (80 sts)
  3. Row 2: Ch 2, *bobble, sc in next 3 sts*, repeat from * to * around, join. (20 bobbles)
  4. Rows 3-5: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
  5. Row 6: Ch 2, *bobble, sc in next 4 sts*, repeat from * to * around, join. (16 bobbles)
  6. Rows 7-9: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.

Body

  1. Continue working sc in rounds until piece measures 10 inches from the yoke.
  2. Divide for sleeves: Place markers at stitches for armholes. Work back and forth in rows on remaining sts for the body.
  3. Work until the body measures 18 inches from yoke. End with RS facing.

Sleeves

  1. Rejoin yarn at armhole, ch 1, and sc around armhole edge evenly, join with sl st.
  2. Continue in sc, decreasing 2 sts every 4th row while maintaining stitch count.
  3. When sleeve measures 16 inches or desired length, work 2 inches of 1x1 ribbing using front and back loop sc.

Finishing

  1. Attach buttons evenly along front edge, aligning buttonholes.
  2. Weave in all ends using tapestry needle.
  3. Block as desired to shape.
