Materials

  • Yarn: DK weight yarn in grey, approximately 200-300 yards depending on the size of your project.
  • Crochet Hook: Size H/8 (5.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends.
  • Scissors

Gauge

16 stitches and 18 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch

Abbreviations

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • sl st - slip stitch

Instructions

  1. Foundation Row: Ch a multiple of 4 + 2 for the foundation chain.
  2. Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in the first stitch. *Ch 3, skip 3 sc, sc in the next sc.* Repeat from * to * across to last stitch. Sc in the last stitch. Turn.
  4. Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), *work 4 dc into next ch-3 space.* Repeat from * to * across. Dc in last sc. Turn.
  5. Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first dc. *Ch 3, skip 4 dc, sc in next dc.* Repeat from * to * across to last stitch. Sc in top of turning ch. Turn.
  6. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until desired length is reached.
  7. Fasten off and weave in ends.
