Granny Square Crochet Pattern

Materials

• 4 yarn colors: Dark Blue, Light Blue, Aqua, Light Green (approximately 1 oz each)
• 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge

4 inches = 8 stitches in double crochet.

Abbreviations

• ch = chain
• dc = double crochet
• sl st = slip stitch

Instructions

1. Start with the Center: Using the Dark Blue yarn, make a slip knot and chain 4. Join with a slip stitch to form a loop.
2. Round 1: (Inside the loop) chain 3 (counts as 1 dc), then work 2 dc into the loop. *Chain 2, work 3 dc into the loop*; repeat from * to * two more times. Chain 2, and join with a slip stitch to the top of the initial chain 3.
3. Round 2: Change to Light Blue yarn. Slip stitch to the first corner (2 ch-2 spaces). Chain 3 (counts as 1 dc), then work 2 dc in the same space. *Chain 2, work 3 dc in the next corner space*; repeat around. Chain 2, join with sl st to the top of initial chain 3.
4. Round 3: Change to Aqua yarn. Slip stitch to the first corner. Chain 3, and work 2 dc in the same space. *Chain 2, work 3 dc in the next corner space*; repeat around. Chain 2, join with sl st to the top of initial chain 3.
5. Round 4: Change to Light Green yarn. Slip stitch to the first corner. Chain 3, and work 2 dc in the same space. *Chain 2, work 3 dc in the next corner space*; repeat around. Chain 2, join with sl st to the top of initial chain 3.
6. Finishing: Fasten off and leave a long tail for weaving in. Use a tapestry needle to weave in all ends securely.
