Materials
- Yarn: DK weight yarn, approximately 1200-1600 yards, in a soft yellow hue
- Needles: US Size 6 (4mm) circular knitting needles
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch markers
- Measuring tape
Gauge
22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Abbreviations
- CO: Cast On
- BO: Bind Off
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- YO: Yarn Over
- SSK: Slip, Slip, Knit
- K2tog: Knit Two Together
Instructions
Body
- CO 180 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist.
- Knit 6 rounds in 2x2 rib (K2, P2).
- Begin pattern:
- Round 1: *K5, YO, K2tog, K3* repeat around.
- Round 2: Knit all stitches.
- Round 3: *K4, YO, K2tog, K4* repeat around.
- Round 4: Knit all stitches.
- Round 5: *K3, YO, K2tog, K5* repeat around.
- Round 6: Knit all stitches.
- Round 7: *K2, YO, K2tog, K6* repeat around.
- Round 8: Knit all stitches.
- Round 9: *K1, YO, K2tog, K7* repeat around.
- Round 10: Knit all stitches.
- Round 11: *YO, K2tog, K8* repeat around.
- Round 12: Knit all stitches.
- Repeat rounds 1-12 until piece measures 20 inches from CO edge or desired length.
Shoulders
- Divide for front and back: Place 90 sts on stitch holder for front and 90 sts for back.
- Knit in pattern for back until it measures 8 inches from divide.
- BO all stitches for back.
- Repeat for the front, knitting in pattern until it measures 6 inches from divide.
Sleeves
- With circular needles, pick up 80 stitches around the armhole.
- Join in the round and knit the pattern:
- Round 1: *K5, YO, K2tog, K3* repeat around.
- Continue pattern as established from rounds 1-12.
- Continue until sleeve measures 18 inches or desired length from pick up.
- BO all stitches.
- Repeat for other sleeve.
Finishing
- Weave in all loose ends using the tapestry needle.
- Block gently to measurements.
