  • Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

  • dc – double crochet

Instructions

Pom-Poms

  1. Using a pom-pom maker or two cardboard circles, make a variety of pom-poms in different sizes and colors. You can experiment with different yarn textures and thicknesses for variety.
  2. Trim any excess yarn so the pom-poms are round and tidy.
  3. Leave long tails on each pom-pom to attach them to the bike.

Crochet Cozy for Handlebars

  1. Foundation: Ch enough to wrap around one side of the handlebars (measure as needed, usually around 40-50 ch).
  2. Row 1: Sc in the second chain from hook and in each chain across, turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
  4. Repeat Row 2 until the piece can wrap snugly around the handlebar. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.
  5. Make a second piece for the other handlebar.
  6. Sew each piece around the handlebars using the yarn tail and tapestry needle.

Bicycle Frame

  1. Using a similar method as the handlebar cozy, create sc or dc fabric pieces to wrap around the top tube, down tube, and seat tube. Measure the length and width needed.
  2. Sew each piece around the respective parts of the frame.

Luggage Rack

  1. Base: Ch enough to cover the length of the luggage rack. Sc in each ch across to create a cover that fits the dimensions of the rack.
  2. Work in pattern desired (e.g., sc, dc) for a bit of texture, repeating rows until desired length is achieved.

Attaching Pom-Poms

  1. Using the long tails from the pom-poms, attach them to the covered parts of the bike as desired. Knot securely and weave in ends.

Finishing

Once all pieces are attached, check for any loose ends and secure all attachments tightly. Try riding your dazzling new bike through the streets and enjoy the compliments!
