Cross-Stitch Vibrant Sunflower Bookmark Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Aida cloth (14 count, white)
• Embroidery floss in brown, yellow, dark green, light green, blue, and white
• Embroidery hoop
• Embroidery needle
• Scissors
• Tassel (optional)

Finished Size: Approximately 2 inches wide by 7 inches tall.

Pattern Instructions:

1. Prepare the Fabric:
   • Cut a piece of Aida cloth large enough to fit your hoop with extra room to handle.
   • Use a hoop to keep the fabric taut.
2. Stitch the Sky:
   • Using blue floss, start stitching the sky at the top of the bookmark, following the chart for sunrise patterns interspersed with white floss for clouds.
   • Continue until you reach the sunflower head area. Approximately 20 rows of blue and white.
3. Create the Sunflower:
   • Switch to yellow floss for the sunflower petals and fill in following the chart.
   • Use brown floss for the center, ensuring the stitches form a solid circle.
4. Stitch the Stem and Leaves:
   • With dark green, stitch the stem downwards from the sunflower center and the two leaves on either side.
   • Mix with light green to add shading and variation.
5. Complete the Field:
   • Fill the remaining bottom section with green stitches, adding smaller sunflowers with alternating yellow and brown following the tiny motifs from the chart.
6. Finishing:
   • Once stitching is complete, remove the hoop and trim any excess fabric.
   • Optionally, attach a tassel to the top center for added flair.
7. Edge:
   • Finish with a neat edge using brown floss.
