Crochet Bright and Cheery Sun Towel Topper Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in yellow, orange, black, and pink
• Crochet hook size H/5.0mm
• 2 black safety eyes
• Embroidery needle
• Stitch marker
• Sewing needle and yellow thread
• 1 button

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• st = stitch
• inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
• dec = decrease (sc two stitches together)

Instructions:

Sun Face (Make 2):

1. With yellow yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: 6 sc in the ring (6 sts)
3. Round 2: inc in each st around (12 sts)
4. Round 3: (sc, inc) around (18 sts)
5. Round 4: (2 sc, inc) around (24 sts)
6. Round 5: (3 sc, inc) around (30 sts)
7. Round 6: (4 sc, inc) around (36 sts)
8. Round 7: (5 sc, inc) around (42 sts)
9. Round 8: (6 sc, inc) around (48 sts)
10. Fasten off and weave in ends for one piece. Leave a long tail for sewing on the other.

Sun Rays:

1. Attach orange yarn to one of the face pieces in the front loops from Round 8.
2. Round 1: *Ch 4, skip 1 st, sl st in the next st, repeat from * around.
3. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly:

1. Sew the two face pieces together, leaving a small opening for stuffing.
2. Insert the craft ring before closing completely.
3. Attach safety eyes between Rounds 4 and 5 of the face, approximately 7 sts apart.
4. With black yarn, embroider the smile just below the eyes.
5. With pink yarn, make 2 small circles for cheeks and sew them onto the face.

Towel Topper:

1. Attach yellow yarn to any st along the edge of the back piece.
2. Row 1: Ch 10, sc in each st across, turn.
3. Rows 2-5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (Adjust the length if needed.)
4. Create a buttonhole by ch 1, crochet 2 sc, ch 3, sk 3 sts, 2 sc, turn.
5. Next Row: sc across, including over the ch 3 space.
6. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing:

1. Sew the button to the opposite end of the buttonhole.
2. Attach the towel by folding it and pulling through the craft ring.
