Cozy Knit Blanket Pattern
This pattern will guide you in creating a soft, creamy knit blanket. The blanket features a combination of stockinette and rib stitches, making it an inviting project for knitters of all levels.
Materials
- Yarn: 8 skeins of worsted weight yarn, approximately 200 yards each, in a cream color
- Knitting Needles: Size 8 (5mm) circular needles, 32 inches long
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.
Note: Always check your gauge. If it’s too loose, try a smaller needle.
Abbreviations
- CO = Cast On
- K = Knit
- P = Purl
- RS = Right Side
- WS = Wrong Side
- Sts = Stitches
Instructions
- Cast On: CO 120 stitches using the long tail method.
- Row 1: K1, *P1, K1; repeat from * across the row to end (this creates the ribbing).
- Row 2: K1, *P1, K1; repeat from * across the row to end.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2: until the piece measures 8 inches from the cast-on edge.
- Next Rows: Switch to stockinette stitch - K every row until the blanket measures 40 inches long.
- Ribbing for the Border: Once the body is complete, switch back to ribbing for the last 8 inches: K1, *P1, K1; repeat from * across.
- Bind Off: Bind off all stitches in ribbing pattern.
- Finishing: Weave in all ends using the yarn needle. Block the blanket if desired to give it a finished look.
