Chunky Green Knit Blanket
This chunky knit blanket is designed for those who love warmth and style. Using a vibrant green color, it brings a touch of nature indoors and offers comfort during cold seasons. With its oversized stitches, it's quick to knit and very forgiving for beginners.
Materials
- Chunky yarn (approx. 600 yards of green yarn)
- Size 15 (10 mm) knitting needles
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
4 stitches x 6 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (this is not crucial but check to ensure desired size)
Abbreviations
- CO = Cast On
- k = Knit
- p = Purl
- st(s) = Stitch(es)
- BO = Bind Off
Instructions
- Cast On: Begin by casting on 40 stitches using the long tail cast on method. This will give you a width of approximately 36 inches.
- Row 1: Knit every stitch across the row (k). This creates a foundation row.
- Row 2: Purl every stitch across the row (p). This creates the second row.
- Rows 3-60: Alternate between knitting and purling. For odd rows, knit all stitches; for even rows, purl all stitches. This will form a textured fabric.
- Finishing: Once you reach approximately 48 inches in length, it’s time to bind off. To bind off, knit the first two stitches, then use the left needle to lift the first stitch over the second stitch and off the needle. Continue this process until only one stitch remains on the needle.
- Weaving in Ends: Cut the yarn, leaving a tail of about 6 inches. Use a tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends into the fabric of the blanket.
Your chunky green knit blanket is now complete! Enjoy the warmth and style it brings to your home, or wrap it as a lovely gift!
