Heart-Shaped Crochet Bag

Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (medium), 100g in pink, 50g in cream
- Crochet hook (size G/4.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Measuring tape
Gauge:
14 stitches x 16 rows = 4 inches in single crochet.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- dc - double crochet
- sp - space
Instructions:
- Base of the Bag:
- Start with a slip knot and chain 4.
- Join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
- Round 1: 8 sc in the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (8 stitches)
- Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around. Join. (16 stitches)
- Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat from * around. Join. (24 stitches)
- Round 4: Ch 1, *1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat from * around. Join. (32 stitches)
- Continue this pattern, adding one more single crochet between increases every round until you reach a diameter of about 10 inches (approximately 8 rounds).
- Sides of the Bag:
- After reaching the desired diameter for the base, work in sc for 8 rounds, until the height of the bag is about 8 inches.
- Shaping the Heart Closure:
- At the end of the 8 rows, switch to cream yarn.
- Starting in the center of one side, ch 5 and dc into the 4th ch from the hook (this is your first heart point).
- Continue with 3 dc in the same stitch to form a rounded point.
- Ch 2 and sl st back into the same stitch to complete the heart shape. Repeat on the other side of the bag simultaneously, connecting the two points at the top center.
- Creating the Strap:
- Ch 50 with the pink yarn (length can be adjusted based on your preference).
- Sc in each chain back to the beginning. Do not fasten off; instead, continue along the top of the bag to secure the strap.
- Attach the other end of the strap on the opposite side of the bag with a sl st.
- Finishing Touches:
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
- Block your bag to shape, if desired.
