Cute Bear Ears Baby Beanie
This easy-to-follow pattern will guide you through making a charming bear ears beanie for infants. This beanie is designed to keep your baby warm while providing a stylish look, great for photos or everyday wear!
Materials:
- Red worsted weight yarn (approx. 100 yards)
- Size 5 mm (US 8) knitting needles
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge:
14 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.
Abbreviations:
- k = knit
- p = purl
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- CO = cast on
- BO = bind off
Instructions:
Body of the Hat:
- CO 60 stitches using the long tail method.
- Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist your stitches. Place a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round.
- Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 1.5 inches (approx. 4 cm).
- After ribbing, switch to stockinette stitch (k every round) and continue until the body measures about 6 inches (15 cm) from the cast-on edge.
Bear Ears:
- To create the ears, on the next round, switch to a smaller size needle (if using) and k10, then place the next 20 stitches on a stitch holder.
- K10 for the right ear, turn your work and p down the 10 stitches to create a small flat piece, then BO all stitches. Leave long tail for sewing.
- For the left ear, repeat the same steps with the remaining 10 stitches from the stitch holder, creating a mirror image ear.
- With tapestry needle, sew the ears onto the top of the beanie, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- If desired, add a pom-pom on top for extra cuteness!
Finishing:
- Weave in all the loose ends using the tapestry needle.
- Your cute bear ears baby beanie is ready to wear!
Enjoy watching your little one wear this hat in chilly weather!
