Whimsical Textured Patchwork Baby Blanket

Materials:

• Yarn: 5 different colors of worsted weight yarn (approximately 100 yards each)
• Crochet hook: Size H (5.0 mm)
• Scissors
• Darning needle
• Measuring tape

Gauge: Approximately 4 inches = 10 stitches in single crochet (sc)

Finished Size: 36 inches x 36 inches

Instructions:

Granny Square Blocks

Make 16 granny square blocks:

1. With Color A, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc into the ring, ch 2, *3 dc into ring, ch 2; repeat from * 3 more times, join with slip stitch to top of ch 3. (4 clusters)
3. Round 2: Slip stitch to the ch 2 space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same ch 2 space; repeat in each ch 2 space around. Join.
4. Round 3: Slip stitch to ch 2 space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, *3 dc, ch 1; repeat from * in each ch 2 space around, join.
5. Fasten off. Change colors for the next block.

Repeat for all 16 blocks with differing colors (Colors A-E).

Assembly

1. Lay out your blocks in a 4x4 grid format, mixing the colors for a balanced look.
2. Join blocks together using slip stitch or whip stitch method.

Border

Using Color F, attach yarn to any corner of the assembled blanket:

1. Round 1: Ch 1, sc around the entire blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner.
2. Round 2: Ch 1, *sc in each sc around, placing 2 sc in each corner sc; repeat from * around.
3. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Care Instructions:

Machine wash on gentle cycle, lay flat to dry.
