Colorful Poker Chip Granny Square

Note: Begin each square with a magic circle.

  1. Rnd 1: With chosen chip color (red, green, blue, or white), ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in magic circle, sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (12 dc)
  2. Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to top of ch 3. (24 dc)
  3. Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st; repeat from * around, sl st to top of ch 3. (36 dc)
  4. Rnd 4: Join black yarn. Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first sc to join. (36 sc)
  5. Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 sts, *ch 2, skip 2 sts, 3 sc in next 3 sts; repeat from * around, sl st to first sc to join. (36 sc)
  6. Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each st around, placing 3 dc in each ch-2 space, sl st to top of ch 3. (48 dc)

Assembly

Make 32 squares using an equal number of each color. Arrange the squares in an alternating pattern. Sew the squares together using black yarn with a whip stitch or a crochet join of your choice.

Border

  1. Join black yarn in any corner. Ch 2, sc evenly around the entire blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
