Crochet Warm Textured Granny Square Blanket Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in 6 colors (approximately 100 yards each)
- G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
Each granny square should measure approximately 6 inches when completed.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- rep = repeat
- sp = space
Instructions:
Granny Square:
Begin with Color A.
- Ch 4 and join with a sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc into the ring, ch 2, *3 dc into the ring, ch 2; rep from * 2 more times, join with sl st to top of ch 3.
- Round 2: Slip stitch to the first ch-2 corner. Ch 3, 2 dc into the same sp, ch 2, 3 dc into the same sp (corner made). *In the next ch-2 sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc; rep from * 2 more times, join with sl st to top of ch 3.
- Round 3: Slip stitch to the first ch-2 corner. Ch 3, 2 dc into the same sp, ch 2, 3 dc into the same corner. For each edge, *3 dc in the next ch-2 sp, ch 1; rep from * for the next 2 edges. At the last corner, work corner as before. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
- Fasten off. Repeat for 24 squares using different colors and stitches as desired.
Joining Squares:
Use a whip stitch or slip stitch to join the squares in a 5x5 layout.
Border:
With Color E, join yarn in any corner, ch 1, sc evenly around the blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
Block your blanket by gently steaming or using a wet cloth to shape the squares and the border.
