Crochet Vibrant Textured Diamond Granny Square Throw Blanket Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in three contrasting colors (Color A, Color B, Color C)
• Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Measuring tape

Gauge: 4" x 4" = 12 DC and 9 rows

Finished Size: Approximately 50" x 60"

Stitch Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• dc = double crochet
• sc = single crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• sp = space

Pattern Instructions:

Diamond Granny Squares:

Make 36 squares (12 in each color combination).

1. Square Color A:
   1. Ch 6, join with sl st to form a ring.
   2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, *3 dc in ring, ch 2; repeat from * twice, 3 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3.
   3. Round 2: Sl st to the corner ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp; *3 dc in the next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, join with sl st to top of ch 3.
   4. Repeat Round 2 for a total of 3 rounds or until square measures 6" x 6".
   5. Fasten off.
2. Square Color B: Follow the same instructions as above, but change the color in the last round.
3. Square Color C: Repeat the process, substituting again for the color.

Joining Squares:

Once all squares are completed:

1. Arrange squares in your desired pattern.
2. Using slip stitch, join squares by aligning edges and stitching through both squares at the join points.

Border:

1. Once joined, create a border using Color A:
2. Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around edges of the blanket. Join with sl st to first sc.
3. Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each sc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
4. Round 3: Sl st to corner, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same corner. *Skip next dc, 3 dc in next dc; repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
