Crochet Vibrant Geometric Color Block Afghan
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in 8 colors (approximately 3200 m total)
- Hook: Size H (5.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
- Scissors
Finished Size:
Approximately 1 x 1.80 meters (39 x 71 inches)
Gauge:
4 rows x 6 blocks = 10 cm square
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
Pattern Instructions:
Color Blocks
For each color block, use a new color yarn. The blocks will be constructed in a combination of double crochet and single crochet stitches.
Block 1: Color A
Row 1: ch 30, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across. (28 dc)
Row 2: ch 2, turn, dc in each dc across.
Row 3: ch 2, turn, *dc in next 2 stitches, 1 dc in next stitch (increase)*, repeat across.
Row 4: repeat Row 2.Block 2: Color B
Row 1: ch 30, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (29 sc)
Assembly
Once you have made all blocks (total of 24 blocks, 6 of each color), join them using single crochet or slip stitch method, matching colors accordingly.
Border
After joining, create a border for your blanket:
1. With the last color, attach yarn to one corner. 2. Ch 1, sc evenly around the blanket, adding 3 sc in each corner. 3. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing Touches
