Crochet Textured Wave Ombre Afghan Free Pattern
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in 5 colors (A, B, C, D, E)
- 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge: 14 stitches = 4 inches in wave pattern
Finished Size: Approximately 50 inches x 60 inches
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Front post double crochet (fpdc)
- Back post double crochet (bpdc)
Instructions:
- Start with a foundation chain of 150 stitches using Color A.
- Row 1: DC in the fourth chain from the hook. DC in each chain across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first DC), DC in next DC. *FPDC in next stitch, BPDC in next stitch; repeat from * across until last 2 stitches, DC in last 2 stitches. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, DC in next DC. *BPDC in next, FPDC in next; repeat from * across until last 2 stitches, DC in last 2 stitches. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 for a total of 10 rows or until desired length is achieved.
- Change to Color B and repeat the same stitch pattern, working one additional row each time you change color for another 5 colors.
- Once all colors are used, continue with the wave pattern until you reach your desired width.
- Finish off, weave in ends with a yarn needle.
Final Touch: For an additional flair, consider adding a simple scalloped border using the following: for the border, work 3 DC in each corner and 1 DC in each stitch around, then slip stitch to beginning DC.
