Textured Twisted Mug Wrap

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn (approx. 100 yards)
  • 5.0 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Measuring tape

Gauge: 14 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in twisted pattern

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • tw = twisted stitch (see instructions)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)

Instructions:

  1. Foundation Row: Ch 38.
  2. Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (37 sc)
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.
  4. Row 3: Ch 2, turn. Dc in first sc, *tw in next st (twist around the crochet hook before pulling yarn), dc in next st*. Repeat from * to * across until 1 sc remains, dc in last st. (18 dc, 18 tw)
  5. Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each dc/tw across.
  6. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until your piece reaches your desired length, generally around 8-10 inches.
  7. To shape the wrap, sl st along the edge to create a tightly fitted twist, then fold in half, aligning edges.
  8. Fasten off and weave in ends.

For extra flair, consider adding buttons or decorative stitches along the edges for a personalized touch!
