Textured Geometric Dishcloth Pattern
Materials:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn (approximately 100 yards)
- 4.5 mm (US 7) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
16 stitches and 18 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch
Finished Size:
Approx. 10" x 10" square
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
Instructions:
- Chain 36.
- Row 1: In the 2nd chain from hook, sc. Sc in each chain across (35 sc total). Turn.
- Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in next stitch, *skip next stitch, (sc, dc) in next stitch; repeat from * across to the last stitch, sc in last stitch. Turn.
- Row 3: Chain 1, sc in first stitch, *2 dc in next sc, sc in next dc; repeat from * across to the last stitch, sc in last stitch. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the dishcloth measures approximately 10 inches from the start.
- Last Row: Chain 1, sc across. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Optional Border:
For a neat finish, add a row of slip stitches around the edge of the dishcloth. Start in any corner, sl st in each stitch around.
Care Instructions:
Machine wash and tumble dry low or lay flat to dry.
Variations:
Try using different colors for each row or alternating between solid and variegated yarns to create your own unique patterns!
