Crochet Textured Earthy Twisted Cable Throw Blanket
Materials:
- Bulky weight yarn (approximately 1200 yards)
- 10mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Gauge:
8 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in twisted cable pattern
Finished Size:
Approximately 50 inches wide and 60 inches long
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
- Twisted Cable Stitch
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
Instructions:
- Foundation Row: Ch 78 (or desired width). Hdc in the 3rd ch from hook and across. Turn.
- Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 2, *twisted cable stitch (see below), hdc in next 4 stitches; repeat from * to end. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 2, hdc across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until blanket reaches desired length, finishing with a Row 3.
Twisted Cable Stitch:
To create a twisted cable, skip the next two stitches, and in the following stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over again and pull through the first two loops on your hook, leaving one loop on the hook. Yarn over and pull into the second of the skipped stitches, yarn over and pull through the first two loops, then yarn over and pull through all three loops on the hook.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends with a yarn needle. Block the blanket if necessary to shape the cables.
