Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in three complementary colors (approximately 800 yards total)
• Size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Slip stitch (sl st)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Half double crochet (hdc)
• Double crochet (dc)
• Front post double crochet (fpdc)
• Back post double crochet (bpdc)

Size: Approximately 50” x 50” when completed

Pattern Instructions:

Square Motif: Each square will be made individually and then sewn together.

1. With Color A, ch 27.
2. Row 1: In 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (26 sc)
3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each st across. (26 hdc)
4. Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc in first st, *fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st; repeat from * across. End with sc in last st. (26 sts)
5. Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc in first st, *bpdc around next st, fpdc around next st; repeat from * across. End with sc in last st. (26 sts)
6. Repeat Rows 1-4 until you have 6 rows total (you should have a square). Fasten off.
7. Make a total of 12 square motifs in Colors A, B, and C, 4 of each color.

Assembly:

1. Arrange the squares in a 3x4 grid pattern, alternating colors as desired.
2. Using a slip stitch or whip stitch, sew the squares together, row by row.
3. Once all squares are joined, add a simple border: with Color A, crochet a round of sc around the entire blanket. For each corner, work (3 sc) into each corner.
4. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
