Crochet Soft Textured Shell Baby Blanket Free Pattern

Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 800 yards)
- Hook size G/4.0mm
- Hook size H/5.0mm
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge:
14 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in shell pattern.
Finished Size:
Approximately 32 x 34 inches.
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- shell = (5 dc in same stitch)
Instructions:
- Foundation Row: Using hook size G, ch 107.
- Row 1: In the 4th ch from the hook, dc, then ch 1. Sk 1 ch, shell in the next ch. *Sk 1 ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, shell in the next ch.* Repeat from * to * across; end with 2 dc in the last ch. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in the same stitch. Ch 1, *shell in the ch-1 space of the previous row, ch 1.* Repeat from * to * across. Finish with a final shell in the last dc. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until blanket reaches desired length, approximately 34 inches.
- Border: Switch to hook size H. Ch 1, sc around the entire blanket. In each corner, work 3 sc to round it out. Join with a sl st to the first sc to close the round.
- Finish with a delicate scalloped edge by ch 3, *(dc in same st, ch 1, dc in same st) in the next sc, sk 1 sc.* Repeat from * to * around the blanket. Join with sl st to the beginning chain. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Care Instructions:
Machine wash on gentle cycle, lay flat to dry.
