Materials Needed:
- Yarn: 4 different colors (worsted weight, approximately 200-300 yards each)
- Crochet Hook: Size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
Gauge is not critical for this project, but aim for 14 stitches and 12 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Dimensions:
Approximately 40 inches x 60 inches when finished.
Stitches Used:
- Chain Stitch (ch)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Pattern Instructions:
Note: This blanket is worked in rows with a wave pattern, changing colors every few rows.
Row 1:
- Chain 100.
- In the 4th chain from the hook, work 2 dc. This forms the first wave.
- Skip 2 chains, in the next chain work 3 dc to form the peak of the wave.
- Skip 2 chains, work 2 dc in the next chain to complete the wave.
- Repeat this pattern until the end of the row, ending with a sl st into the top of the beginning ch.
Row 2:
- Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn your work.
- In the first wave, work 2 dc.
- For the peak, work 3 dc in the peak of the wave; then for the next wave, work 2 dc.
- Repeat until the end and finish with a sl st.
Continue Pattern:
Repeat Row 2, alternating colors every 4 rows. You can create a gradient effect or mix colors for a more playful look!
Finishing:
- Once you reach your desired size, fasten off your yarn.
- Weave in any loose ends with a tapestry needle.
- Optional: Add a border by working single crochet stitches around the entire blanket for a polished finish.
Care Instructions:
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry or tumble on low heat.
