Materials
- Chunky weight yarn (about 300-400 yards, in two contrasting colors)
- Crochet hook size L (8.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge
12 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in Double Crochet.
Instructions
Starting Chain
Chain 70 for a standard vehicle throw, adjust for desired size.
Row 1
DC in the 4th chain from the hook, DC in each chain across. Turn.
Row 2
Ch 3 (counts as first DC), skip first DC, *FPDC (Front Post Double Crochet) around next stitch, BPDC (Back Post Double Crochet) around the following stitch; repeat from * until 1 DC remains. DC in the top of the turning chain. Turn.
Row 3
Ch 3, DC in each stitch across. Turn.
Row 4
Ch 3, *BPDC around next stitch, FPDC around the following stitch; repeat from * until 1 DC remains. DC in the top of the turning chain. Turn.
Repeat Rows 3 and 4
Continue alternating between Rows 3 and 4 until the blanket measures approximately 30 inches in length, or desired size.
Finishing
Fasten off and weave in all ends. For a finishing touch, add a simple border of single crochet around the entire edge of the throw, in the contrasting color.
