Crochet Serene Waves Textured Square Blanket
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in three shades: deep blue, aqua, and sandy beige (approximately 600 yards total)
- Size H (5 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge:
Each textured square should measure approximately 6" x 6" using the recommended yarn and hook.
Pattern Instructions:
Textured Square:
- Make a magic ring.
- Round 1: Chain (ch) 3 (counts as 1 double crochet (dc)), work 11 dc into the ring. Pull the ring tight and join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the top of the ch-3. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st. (24 dc)
- Round 3: Ch 3, dc in the next 2 stitches, *2 dc in the next stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches* repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (30 dc)
- Round 4: Ch 3, dc in the next 3 stitches, *2 dc in the next stitch, dc in the next 3 stitches* repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (36 dc)
- Round 5: Switch to aqua yarn. Ch 1, sc in the same stitch, sc in the next 2 stitches, *2 sc in the next stitch, sc in the next 3 stitches* repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (45 sc)
- Round 6: Ch 1, sc in the same stitch, sc in the next 4 stitches, *2 sc in the next stitch, sc in the next 4 stitches* repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (54 sc)
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembling the Blanket:
- Make a total of 20 textured squares (10 in deep blue and 10 in aqua).
- Arrange squares in a checkerboard pattern, alternating colors.
- Join squares using a whip stitch or slip stitch method. For a more finished look, add a round of single crochet around the perimeter of the entire blanket in sandy beige.
