Crochet Pastel Textured Basketweave Baby Blanket Pattern
Materials Needed
- Yarn: Worsted weight in pastel shades of blue, pink, green, and yellow, plus cream for the border.
- Crochet Hook: Size H (5.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Stitch Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- fpdc = front post double crochet
- bpdc = back post double crochet
Gauge
4" x 4" square = 16 dc x 8 rows
Instructions
- Start with the Base
- Using the cream color, ch 98.
- Row 1: Starting in the 3rd ch from hook, dc in each ch across. Turn. (96 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as dc here and throughout), *fpdc in next 4 sts, bpdc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 2, *bpdc in next 4 sts, fpdc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Change Colors
- Change to blue yarn, and repeat Rows 2 and 3 twice, creating a total of four rows of blue.
- Continue the pattern, changing colors every four rows in the following order: Pink, Green, Yellow, then repeat.
- Continue until you reach the desired blanket size. Ending with a complete color block and finish off.
- Border:
- With cream color, attach yarn to any corner of the blanket. Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc.
- Next round: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, placing 3 sc in corners, sl st to first sc.
- Repeat the border round 3 times or until the desired thickness is achieved. Finish off and weave in all ends.
