Festive Striped Textured Throw Blanket
This easy crochet pattern is suitable for beginners and provides a charmingly textured look with festive colors. It’s perfect for snuggling on cold winter nights or adding a festive touch to your home.
Materials Needed:
- Bulky weight yarn (approximately 600 yards total: 200 yards each of three colors: red, green, and cream)
- Size N (10 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
Gauge:
4 dc = 4 inches
Size:
Approximately 50 inches wide and 60 inches long (adjustable based on preference)
Blanket Pattern:
Base Rows:
- With cream color, make a foundation chain of 100 stitches.
- Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each dc across. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the blanket is 50 inches long, changing colors every 10 rows as follows: 10 rows of cream, 10 rows of red, 10 rows of green.
Textured Edge:
- Change to red color. Work a border of sc around the entire blanket. On corners, work 3 sc to give a nice rounded edge.
- Next, work a shell stitch border: *Work 5 dc in the next sc, skip 2 sc, sl st in the next sc*; repeat from * to * around the entire blanket, joining with sl st to the beginning.
Finishing:
Weave in all loose ends using a tapestry needle. Block the blanket to measurements if desired.
