Crochet Elegant Textured Shoulder Purse Free Pattern

Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn in a natural color
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5mm)
- A wooden button, approximately 1 inch in diameter
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
14 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in the pattern stitch
Finished Size:
Approximately 12 inches wide, 9 inches tall (without the strap), and 2 inches deep
Pattern Instructions:
Body of the Bag:
- Chain 36.
- Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. Turn. (35 stitches)
- Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet in the first stitch, *double crochet in next stitch, single crochet in next stitch; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2-3 until the piece measures approximately 9 inches. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Side Seams:
- Fold the piece in half with wrong sides facing, and use the long tail to sew the side seams together. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Strap:
- Chain 5.
- Row 1: Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. Turn. (4 stitches)
- Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch across. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the strap measures approximately 36 inches or your desired length. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
- Sew each end of the strap to the inside of the bag opening.
Button Loop and Closure:
- With the bag body facing you, find the center top edge. Attach yarn and chain 10 (or enough to loop around your button securely).
- Slip stitch back into the starting point to secure the loop. Fasten off and weave in ends.
- Sew the button onto the front of the bag, ensuring it aligns with the button loop.
Finishing:
Be sure all ends are woven in securely. Block your bag if necessary to shape. Enjoy your new crochet shoulder purse!
