Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (100% acrylic) – approximately 600 yards
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- 1 yard of soft fabric for trim (fleece or cotton recommended)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge: 4” x 4” = 12 dc x 6 rows
Instructions:
Foundation Chain:
Chain 100 to start your blanket. Adjust chain length for desired blanket width.
Row 1:
DC in the 4th chain from the hook (counts as 1 DC), DC across (97 DC). Turn.
Row 2:
Ch 3 (counts as first DC), DC in the next stitch, *Skip 2 stitches, 3 DC in the next stitch (forming a diamond), skip 2 stitches, DC in the next stitch; repeat from * to end. Turn.
Rows 3-22:
Repeat Row 2 until your blanket reaches approximately 36 inches in length or desired size. End by making a DC row to create a neat finish.
Edging:
Switch to fabric for the trim. Cut four strips measuring 3 inches wide and the length of each side plus an additional 5 inches for the ruffle. Pin the fabric around three edges of the blanket, right side facing in. Sew along the edge, leaving one side open to finish the blanket.
Finishing:
Turn the blanket right side out and ruffle gently along the edges. Secure the fabric edge to prevent fraying. Weave in all yarn ends.
