Materials Needed
- Lightweight yarn in purple, green, and cream
- Crochet hook size 2.5 mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- st(s): stitch(es)
Instructions
Braid Base
- Create three separate strands, one in each color (purple, green, and cream). Each strand should be approximately 20 inches long.
- Loosely braid the three strands together. Secure the ends temporarily.
Flowers (Make 5)
- Using purple yarn, create a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 1, work 10 sc into the ring, sl st to the first sc to join. (10 sts)
- Round 2: *Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in next st* repeat around for 5 petals.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
- Attach a small white bead or embroider a knot in the center for detail.
Leaves (Make 10)
- Using green yarn, ch 8.
- Row 1: Sc in the second ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch.
- Turn to work along the other side of the chain, sc in first st, hdc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next, sc in last st.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly
- Arrange the flowers and leaves alternately along the braided base.
- Secure each flower and leaf to the braid using a tapestry needle and matching yarn.
- Tie the headband with a simple knot or bow at the back to secure.
