Crochet Amigurumi Pikachu Pattern

Create your own cute and cuddly Pikachu with this beginner-friendly pattern.

Materials

• Yellow worsted weight yarn
• Small amount of black and red yarn
• 3.5mm (E) crochet hook
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Tapestry needle
• Two 10mm black safety eyes
• Scissors

Gauge is not critical for this pattern. The size of Pikachu will depend on your tension and yarn used.

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• inc = increase (2 sc in the next st)

• FO = fasten off

Instructions

Body

1. With yellow yarn, make a magic ring and 6 sc into it (6 sts).
2. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12 sts).
3. Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) 6 times (18 sts).
4. Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) 6 times (24 sts).
5. Round 5: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc) 6 times (30 sts).
6. Round 6-12: Sc in each st around (30 sts).
7. Round 13: (Sc in next 3 sts, dec) 6 times (24 sts).
8. Round 14: Sc in each st around (24 sts).
9. Round 15: (Sc in next 2 sts, dec) 6 times (18 sts).
10. Begin stuffing the body firmly with fiberfill.
11. Round 16: (Sc in next st, dec) 6 times (12 sts).
12. Round 17: Dec around (6 sts), FO and weave in the end.

Head

1. With yellow yarn, make a magic ring and 6 sc into it (6 sts).
2. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12 sts).
3. Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) 6 times (18 sts).
4. Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) 6 times (24 sts).
5. Round 5-10: Sc in each st around (24 sts).
6. Round 11: (Sc in next 2 sts, dec) 6 times (18 sts).
7. Round 12: (Sc in next st, dec) 6 times (12 sts).
8. Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, approximately 5 sts apart.
9. Stuff the head firmly.
10. Round 13: Dec around (6 sts), FO and sew to the body.

Arms (make 2)

1. With yellow yarn, make a magic ring and 5 sc into it (5 sts).
2. Round 2: (Sc in next st, inc) 2 times, sc in last st (7 sts).
3. Round 3-6: Sc in each st around (7 sts).
4. Stuff lightly and FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Attach to the body.

Legs (make 2)

1. With yellow yarn, make a magic ring and 6 sc into it (6 sts).
2. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12 sts).
3. Round 3-4: Sc in each st around (12 sts).
4. Stuff firmly, FO leaving a long tail for sewing. Attach to the body at the bottom.

Ears (make 2)

1. With yellow yarn, make a magic ring and 4 sc into it (4 sts).
2. Round 2: Inc in each st around (8 sts).
3. Round 3-4: Sc in each st around (8 sts).
4. Switch to black yarn, sc in each st around for one round.
5. FO and attach to the top of the head.

Cheeks

1. With red yarn, make a magic ring and 6 sc into it (6 sts).
2. FO leaving a long tail for sewing. Attach to the sides of the face below the eyes.

Tail

1. With yellow yarn, ch 11.
2. Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 10 ch, turn (10 sts).
3. Row 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (10 sts).
4. Change to black yarn.
5. Row 4-5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (10 sts).
6. FO leaving a long tail for sewing. Shape into a zig-zag and sew to the lower back of the body.
