Textured Coastal Breeze Crochet Blanket
This blanket is designed to evoke the calming sensation of a seaside escape. With alternating stripes of double crochet and shell stitches, it offers a delightful mix of textures and visual interest.
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn (4): 4 skeins in light blue, 2 skeins in sandy beige
- Crochet hook: 5.5 mm (I/9)
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge
10 dc x 8 rows = 4 inches square using the double crochet stitch.
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- st = stitch
- shell = (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in the same st)
- rep = repeat
Instructions
- Chain 102 to start.
- Row 1: In the 4th ch from hook, dc. *Skip 1 ch, dc in next ch; repeat from * until the end. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc). 1 dc in the next st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, shell in next st; repeat from * until 1 st remains, dc in the last st. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, dc in the next st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st; repeat from * until the end, dc in the last st. Turn.
- Row 4: Ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in the first st, *skip 1 st, dc in next st; repeat from * until 1 st remains, shell in the last st. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2-4 alternately two more times, then switch to sandy beige yarn and repeat Rows 2-4 two more times.
- Finish with a final row of dc in sandy beige. Fasten off and weave in ends.
