Dreamy Starry Night Lovey
Materials
- 6 oz. of soft worsted weight acrylic yarn in midnight blue (or any color of your choice)
- 3 oz. of soft worsted weight acrylic yarn in pale yellow for the star face
- 5 mm (H) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Safety eyes (optional)
- Fiberfill stuffing (if desired)
Gauge
4 dc stitches = 4 inches; adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.
Abbreviations
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- st(s) - stitch(es)
Instructions
Star Blanket
- Begin with a magic ring (or ch 4 and sl st to form a ring).
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc into the ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around. Join. (24 dc)
- Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (36 dc)
- Round 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (48 dc)
- Round 5-10: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join. (48 dc)
- Change to pale yellow yarn. Round 11: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Star Face
- With pale yellow yarn, ch 6. Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (5 sc)
- Switch to midnight blue yarn. Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st; join.
- Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (8 sc)
- Round 4-5: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.
- Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing. Attach safety eyes if desired.
Assembly
- Place the star face in the center of the star blanket.
- Using the tail from the face, sew the star face securely to the center of the star blanket.
- If desired, lightly stuff the star face with fiberfill before securing it completely.
- Weave in any remaining ends and trim as needed.
