Chunky Knit Throw Blanket
Chunky Knit Throw Blanket Pattern
Materials
- Super Bulky Yarn (approximately 4-5 balls, in a creamy beige color)
- Size 25 mm (US 50) knitting needles (or circular needles if preferred)

Gauge is not critical for this project due to its chunky nature. However, 4 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch will give you a rough idea of size.
Abbreviations
- CO - Cast On
- K - Knit
- P - Purl
- BO - Bind Off
Instructions
Step 1: Cast On
Begin by casting on 30 stitches (or more if you want a wider blanket). Ensure the stitch count is even for better texture in the pattern.
Step 2: Knit the First Row
Row 1: Knit across all stitches. This will establish your first row of stitches.
Step 3: Create the Body of the Blanket
Rows 2-50: Alternate between Row 2 and Row 3:
- Row 2: Purl across all stitches.
- Row 3: Knit across all stitches.
Step 4: Finishing the Blanket
Once you have reached the desired length, it’s time to bind off.
- Row 51: Knit the first two stitches.
- Use the left needle to lift the first stitch over the second stitch and drop it off the needle.
- Continue knitting one stitch, then lifting the first stitch over, and dropping off until you have one stitch left on the needle.
- Cut the yarn, leaving a tail of about 6 inches, and pull the last stitch through to secure.
Step 5: Weave in Ends
Use the tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends from your cast on and bind off edges to ensure a clean finish.
Step 6: Enjoy
Your chunky knit throw blanket is now complete! Drape it over your couch or bed for a pop of cozy texture. Don’t forget to snuggle up with your favorite book or movie!
