Knitting Cozy Textured Cable Poncho with Fringe Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in taupe or preferred color
- Knitting needles size 8 (5mm)
- Cable needle
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
Abbreviations:
- CO: Cast On
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- C8F: Slip 4 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, K4, then K4 from cable needle
- Rep: Repeat
- RS/WS: Right Side/Wrong Side
- BO: Bind Off
Gauge:
20 stitches = 4 inches in pattern
Pattern Instructions:
Ribbed Collar:
- CO 100 stitches.
- Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 6 inches. This forms the foldover collar.
Body:
- Knit in pattern:
- Rows 1-4 (RS): *K, P* to end.
- Row 5 (RS): Start cable pattern: K10, C8F, K10.
- Rows 6-8: As Rows 1-4.
- Row 9: K10, C8F, K10.
- Repeat these 8 rows until the piece measures 35 inches from cast on edge.
Fringe:
- Cut 10-inch strands of yarn.
- Attach 2 strands to each stitch along bind-off edge, forming fringe.
Finishing:
- BO all stitches loosely.
- Weave in all ends with tapestry needle.
- Block gently to measurements.
