Chunky Crochet Color Block Blanket Pattern
Materials
- Bulky weight plush yarn in four colors: Rust, Cream, Mustard, Teal (approximately 200 yards of each)
- Crochet hook size N (10.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge
4 inches x 4 inches = 4 dc x 3 rows
Finished Size
Approximately 50 inches wide x 60 inches long
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- dc: double crochet
- st: stitch
- sl st: slip stitch
- ch sp: chain space
Instructions
Beginning Square (Make 12 in Total Color Blocks)
- With Rust, ch 4, sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, *3 dc in ring, ch 2* repeat 3 times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. (12 dc, 4 ch-2 spaces)
- Round 2: Sl st to first ch-2 space, ch 3, 2 dc in first ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch-2 space, *3 dc in next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in same ch-2 space*, repeat from * around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. Fasten off. (24 dc, 8 ch-2 spaces)
Main Blocks
Repeat the instructions for the Beginning Square in all color blocks: Rust, Cream, Mustard, and Teal. Make 12 squares in each color for a total of 48 squares.
Joining Squares
- Lay out your squares in a 6x8 rectangle, alternating colors for a balanced look.
- With Cream, join yarn to any ch-2 sp on one square, sl st to join it to an adjacent square's ch-2 sp.
- Continue joining all the squares row by row, using sl sts. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Border
- With Cream, join yarn in any corner of the blanket, ch 2 and work 2 sc in the same corner.
- Sc evenly around the entire blanket, working 3 sc in each corner ch sp.
- Join with sl st to first sc, fasten off, and weave in ends.
