Abbreviations:

  • CO: Cast On
  • K: Knit
  • P: Purl
  • St: Stitch
  • BO: Bind Off

Instructions:

  1. Cast On: CO 30 stitches using your first color (let's start with maroon).
  2. Pattern Stitch: Repeat the following rows until the scarf reaches your desired length, typically around 60 inches:
    1. Row 1: K all stitches.
    2. Row 2: K all stitches.
  3. Switch Color: After knitting 20 rows in maroon, switch to blue:
    1. Row 21: K all stitches with blue yarn.
    2. Row 22: K all stitches with blue yarn.
  4. Continue this process, alternating colors every 20 rows until you've used all four colors.
  5. Final Row: After incorporating the last color (red), knit 2 more rows in red.
  6. Bind Off: BO all stitches loosely to ensure a nice edge.
  7. Weave in Ends: Use a tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends from changing colors.
  8. Block Your Scarf: Lightly block the scarf by wetting it and laying it flat to dry, shaping to your desired dimensions.

Final Touch:

Your scarf is now ready to wear or gift! Enjoy your cozy knitted piece!
