Materials

Instructions

Baby Suit

  1. CO 60 stitches. Work in ribbing (k1, p1) for 10 rows.
  2. Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every row) and work for 15 inches, or until it reaches desired length from the top.
  3. To shape the armholes, bind off 6 stitches at the beginning of the next two rows. You will now have 48 stitches remaining.
  4. Continue in stockinette stitch for 10 more inches.
  5. At the end of this, begin to shape for the shoulder by binding off 12 stitches at the start of the next two rows. You will have 24 stitches left.
  6. Continue knitting until the piece measures approximately 22 inches from the cast on edge.
  7. BO all stitches.

Hat with Ears

  1. CO 48 stitches. Work in ribbing (k1, p1) for 8 rows.
  2. Switch to stockinette stitch and work for 6 inches.
  3. To shape the top of the hat, decrease as follows: (k6, k2tog) repeat to end - you will have 42 stitches.
  4. Continue to decrease: (k5, k2tog) for the next row - 36 stitches remain.
  5. Continue to decrease like this until you reach 12 stitches.
  6. Now for the ears: take a separate piece of yarn and CO 6 stitches. Work in stockinette for 5 rows. On the last row, k2tog across the entire row to have 3 stitches. BO.
  7. Make one more ear in the same way.
  8. Sew the ears onto the top of the hat, using the yarn needle.
  9. Once the hat is complete, weave in any loose ends.

Finishing

With the yarn needle, weave in all ends on both the suit and the hat. If desired, add a pom-pom or decorative stitching to enhance the outfit's charm.
