Materials

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch. Adjust your needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Instructions

Round 17: Knit all stitches. Round 18: *K4, K2TOG* repeat from * around (45 sts). Round 19: Knit all stitches. Round 20: *K3, K2TOG* repeat from * around (36 sts). Round 21: Knit all stitches. Round 22: *K2, K2TOG* repeat from * around (27 sts). Round 23: Knit all stitches. Round 24: *K1, K2TOG* repeat from * around (18 sts). Round 25: *K2TOG* repeat around (9 sts).
  6. Finishing the Hat: Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the hat. Weave in any loose ends.
  7. Creating the Ears (Make 2): CO 12 stitches. Row 1: K all sts. Row 2: P all sts. Row 3: K1, K2TOG, K8, K2TOG, K1 (10 sts). Row 4: P all sts. Row 5: K1, K2TOG, K6, K2TOG, K1 (8 sts). Row 6: P all sts. Row 7: K1, K2TOG, K4, K2TOG, K1 (6 sts). Row 8: P all sts. Row 9: K1, K2TOG, K2, K2TOG, K1 (4 sts). Row 10: P all sts. Row 11: K2TOG, K2TOG (2 sts). Cut yarn and pull through remaining sts. Weave in ends.
  8. Attach Ears: Position the ears on the top sides of the hat and sew securely using the yarn needle.
