Materials Needed

• Worsted weight yarn (#4) in pastel purple, pink, and cream
• Crochet hook size 4 mm
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Instructions

Body

1. Using purple yarn, ch 10.
2. Row 1: Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 sc)
3. Row 2-20: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.
4. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Upper Wings

1. With cream yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
3. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join. (24 dc)
4. Switch to pink yarn.
5. Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* around, join. (36 dc)
6. Switch to purple yarn.
7. Round 4: Ch 3, *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st* around, join. (48 dc)
8. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Lower Wings

1. With cream yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
3. Switch to pink yarn.
4. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join. (24 dc)
5. Switch to purple yarn.
6. Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* around, join. (36 dc)
7. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

1. Using tails left, sew the wings onto each side of the body of the butterfly.
2. Attach antennae using purple yarn: cut two 10” strands, fold in half, and tie to the head of the body.
3. Weave in all loose ends.
