Materials Needed
- Fingering weight yarn in four colors for gradient effect (cream, peach, rose, deep mauve)
- Crochet hook size 4.0 mm (G)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge
16 stitches x 8 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern
Abbreviations
- Ch: chain
- Dc: double crochet
- Sc: single crochet
- Sk: skip
- St: stitch
- Sl st: slip stitch
Pattern
Foundation Row:
- Using the lightest color yarn, ch 4, sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
Row 1:
- Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, 3 dc in ring, turn.
Row 2:
- Ch 3, dc in the next dc, *ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc* twice, ch 2, dc in next dc, *ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc* twice, turn.
Row 3:
- Ch 3, dc in each dc and ch 1 space across to ch-2 space, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 space, dc in each dc and ch 1 space across, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3:
- Alternate between Rows 2 and 3 for pattern, switching to the next color after every 20 rows or desired gradient effect.
- Continue until shawl reaches desired size.
Finishing:
- Fasten off and weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
- Block the shawl to shape and open up the lace pattern.
