Crochet Cherry Keychain Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in red and green (or your preferred cherry and leaf colors)
- Crochet hook size G/4.0mm
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Keychain ring
Gauge:
Gauge is not critical for this project, but each cherry should measure approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- inc = increase (2 sc in the next stitch)
- dec = decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
- sl st = slip stitch
- st(s) = stitch(es)
Instructions:
Crochet Cherry (Make 2):
- Using red yarn, form a magic ring.
- Round 1: Work 6 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
- Round 3: [Sc in next st, inc] around. (18 sts)
- Round 4-6: Sc in each st around. (18 sts)
- Round 7: [Sc in next st, dec] around. (12 sts)
- Stuff the cherry with fiberfill.
- Round 8: Dec around. (6 sts)
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the opening closed.
Leaf (Make 1):
- Using green yarn, ch 8.
- Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc in the next 4 ch, hdc, sc in last ch. Ch 1 and turn to work back along the opposite side of the ch.
- Row 2: Sc in first st, hdc, dc in the next 4 st, hdc, sc in last st. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly:
- Use the yarn tails to sew the two cherries together at the top.
- Attach the leaf between the cherries using the remaining tails and secure it firmly.
- Attach the green yarn to the top of a cherry to form the stem, ch 8, and attach the other end to the keychain ring. Fasten off and weave in ends.
