Crochet Cherry Keychain Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn in red and green (or your preferred cherry and leaf colors)
  • Crochet hook size G/4.0mm
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Keychain ring

Gauge:

Gauge is not critical for this project, but each cherry should measure approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in the next stitch)
  • dec = decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)

Instructions:

Crochet Cherry (Make 2):

  1. Using red yarn, form a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: Work 6 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)
  3. Round 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
  4. Round 3: [Sc in next st, inc] around. (18 sts)
  5. Round 4-6: Sc in each st around. (18 sts)
  6. Round 7: [Sc in next st, dec] around. (12 sts)
  7. Stuff the cherry with fiberfill.
  8. Round 8: Dec around. (6 sts)
  9. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the opening closed.

Leaf (Make 1):

  1. Using green yarn, ch 8.
  2. Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc, hdc, dc in the next 4 ch, hdc, sc in last ch. Ch 1 and turn to work back along the opposite side of the ch.
  3. Row 2: Sc in first st, hdc, dc in the next 4 st, hdc, sc in last st. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
  4. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly:

  1. Use the yarn tails to sew the two cherries together at the top.
  2. Attach the leaf between the cherries using the remaining tails and secure it firmly.
  3. Attach the green yarn to the top of a cherry to form the stem, ch 8, and attach the other end to the keychain ring. Fasten off and weave in ends.
