Crochet Charming Reindeer Pot Holder Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Medium weight cotton yarn in tan, brown, red, and white
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Two small black buttons or safety eyes
- Black embroidery thread
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- st = stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
- inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
Instructions:
Reindeer Head:
- Using tan yarn, create a magic circle.
- Round 1: 6 sc in the magic circle. Join with sl st. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Inc in each st around. Join with sl st. (12 sts)
- Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) around. Join with sl st. (18 sts)
- Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) around. Join with sl st. (24 sts)
- Round 5: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc) around. Join with sl st. (30 sts)
- Round 6: (Sc in next 4 sts, inc) around. Join with sl st. (36 sts)
- Round 7: (Sc in next 5 sts, inc) around. Join with sl st. (42 sts)
- Round 8: (Sc in next 6 sts, inc) around. Join with sl st. (48 sts)
- Round 9: Sc around. Join with sl st. Finish off and weave in ends. (48 sts)
Muzzle:
- Using white yarn, create a magic circle.
- Round 1: 6 sc in the magic circle. Join with sl st. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Inc in each st around. Join with sl st. (12 sts)
- Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) around. Join with sl st. (18 sts)
- Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) around. Join with sl st. (24 sts)
- Round 5: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc) around. Join with sl st. (30 sts)
- Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Nose:
- Using red yarn, create a magic circle.
- Round 1: 6 sc in the magic circle. Join with sl st. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Inc in each st around. Join with sl st. (12 sts)
- Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) around. Join with sl st. (18 sts)
- Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Ears (Make 2):
- Using tan yarn, ch 6.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (5 sts)
- Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (5 sts)
- Row 3: Sc2tog, sc in next st, sc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (3 sts)
- Row 4: Sc3tog. (1 st)
- Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Using white yarn, repeat rows 1-4. Place white inner ear on tan ear and sew together.
Antlers (Make 2):
- Using brown yarn, ch 16.
- Row 1: Sl st in the 2nd ch from hook and in each of the next 5 ch, ch 4, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, continue sl stitching through remaining 10 ch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Sew antlers to top of the head.
Assembly:
- Sew the muzzle to the bottom center of the reindeer head.
- Sew the red nose onto the center of the muzzle.
- Sew black buttons or safety eyes above the muzzle evenly spaced.
- With black embroidery thread, embroider a smile below the nose.
- Sew ears onto the sides of the head and antlers at the top.
- Add a loop by chaining 15, fastening off, and sewing to the back-top of the head for hanging.
