Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch on larger needles, after blocking. 20 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches in the textured stitch pattern (see pattern) on larger needles, after blocking.

Sizes & Finished Measurements

Sizes: S/M (M/L, L/XL, 2XL/3XL). Finished bust circumference: 40 (44, 48, 52) inches. Length from shoulder: 26 (27, 28, 29) inches.

Stitch Pattern: Textured Drift Stitch (worked flat, multiple of 4 + 2)

• Row 1 (RS): Knit.
• Row 2 (WS): Purl.
• Row 3: *K2, P2; repeat from * to last 2 sts, K2.
• Row 4: *P2, K2; repeat from * to last 2 sts, P2.
• Repeat Rows 1-4 for pattern.

Note: The cardigan is worked in one piece from the top down, starting with the back neck, then splitting for the sleeves and body. The asymmetric front is created by working one side longer than the other.

Back Panel

With MC and smaller needles, cast on 72 (80, 88, 96) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches. Switch to larger needles and work in Textured Drift Stitch until piece measures 12 (13, 14, 15) inches from cast-on edge. Place all stitches on a holder. Do not cut yarn.

Left Front Panel (Longer side)

With MC and smaller needles, cast on 36 (40, 44, 48) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches. Switch to larger needles and work in Textured Drift Stitch until piece measures 16 (17, 18, 19) inches from cast-on edge. Place stitches on a holder. Cut yarn.

Right Front Panel (Shorter side)

With MC and smaller needles, cast on 36 (40, 44, 48) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches. Switch to larger needles and work in Textured Drift Stitch until piece measures 8 (9, 10, 11) inches from cast-on edge. Place stitches on a holder. Cut yarn.

Sleeves (Make 2)

With MC and smaller needles, cast on 36 (40, 44, 48) sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches. Switch to larger needles and work in Textured Drift Stitch, increasing 1 stitch at each end of every 6th row until you have 56 (60, 64, 68) sts. Continue even until sleeve measures 18 (19, 20, 21) inches from cast-on edge. Bind off loosely.

Assembly

1. Sew shoulder seams: Place back panel and front panels with right sides together. Sew the top 6 (7, 8, 9) inches of the back panel to the top of each front panel, leaving the center back open for the neckline.
2. Sew sleeve caps: With right sides together, sew the bound-off edge of each sleeve to the armhole opening (the space between the front and back panels). The armhole should be approximately 8 (9, 10, 11) inches deep.
3. Sew side and sleeve seams: With right sides together, sew from the bottom of the sleeve down to the bottom of the cardigan, matching the side edges.

Asymmetric Hem

With RS facing, using larger needles and CC, pick up and knit stitches evenly along the entire bottom edge of the cardigan, including the front panels and back. The number of stitches will vary. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 1 inch. Bind off loosely in pattern.

Finishing
