Star Coaster Crochet Pattern

This detailed pattern will guide you through making a cute star-shaped coaster that’s perfect for resting your favorite mug!

Materials Needed:

• Medium weight yarn (4) in soft pink - approximately 50 grams
• Crochet hook size 4.0 mm (G hook)
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge:

4 inches = 14 single crochets in rows. Gauge is not critical for this project but ensure your tension is comfortable for you.

• ch - chain
• sc - single crochet
• dc - double crochet
• sl st - slip stitch
• st - stitch
• sp - space

Instructions:

1. Make a Magic Ring: Start by making a magic ring. To do this, wrap the yarn around your fingers, create a loop, and pull the working yarn through.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc). In the ring, work 2 dc, ch 1, then work 3 dc. Repeat this step, making 4 points in total, and join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. You will have 4 points and 4 ch-1 spaces.
3. Round 2: In each ch-1 space from the previous round, work 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc. Join with a sl st to close the round.
4. Round 3: To create the star points, in the first ch-1 space, work (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc). Slip stitch to the next ch-1 space, and repeat around to form all 5 points of the star.
5. Finish Off: Once you have completed the last point, join with a sl st to the top of the starting chain. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for weaving in. Pull the yarn through the last loop to secure it.
6. Weave in the Ends: Use the tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends for a neat finish.
