Crochet Whimsical Layered Petal Brooch

Materials Needed:

• DK Weight Yarn in assorted colors
• 3.5 mm Crochet Hook
• Scissors
• Yarn Needle
• Brooch Pin Back (Optional)

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Slip Stitch (sl st)
• Single Crochet (sc)
• Half Double Crochet (hdc)
• Double Crochet (dc)

Pattern Instructions:

Petal (Make 5)

1. Ch 5, sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), 9 hdc into ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. (10 hdc)
3. Round 2: Ch 2, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (15 hdc)
4. Round 3: Ch 2, *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (20 hdc)
5. Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 3, sl st in the next ch to make a petal; repeat from * around. (5 petals)
6. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Center (Make 1)

1. Ch 4, sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1, 8 sc into ring. Join.
3. Round 2: Ch 1, *2 sc in each st; repeat from * around. Join. (16 sc)
4. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Stuff lightly and sew to the center of the petals.

Assembly

1. Layer the 5 petals together, sewing them at the base to secure.
2. Sew the center piece to the middle of the petals.
3. Attach a brooch pin to the back if desired.

Finishing Touches:

Weave in all ends. Feel free to add beads or embellishments to the center for extra flair!
