  • dc: double crochet
  • sc: single crochet
  • st: stitch
  • sk: skip
  • sp: space
  • V-stitch: (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same stitch

Pattern Instructions

Setup Row

Foundation: Ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Row 1

Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 1, 3 dc in ring, ch 2, 3 dc in ring, turn.

Row 2

Ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in first dc (first V-stitch made), *ch 1, V-stitch in next ch-1 sp* to center ch-2 sp, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in center ch-2 sp, continue pattern *ch 1, V-stitch in next ch-1 sp* to end, (dc, ch 1, dc) in top of beginning ch-3, turn.

Row 3

Ch 3, 2 dc in first V-stitch, *ch 1, 3 dc in next V-stitch* to center ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in center ch-2 sp, continue pattern *ch 1, 3 dc in next V-stitch* to end, 2 dc in last V-stitch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2-3

Continue repeating rows 2 and 3 until the shawl reaches desired size, ensuring each side remains symmetrical.

Edging

Row 1: Work sc evenly across the entire shawl edge.

Row 2: *Ch 3, sk 1 st, sc in next st* repeat from * across to form a picot edge.

Finishing

Fasten off and weave in all ends using the tapestry needle. Block to open up lacework and shape the shawl.
