Instructions

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • sp: space

Pattern

  1. Begin by creating a magic ring.
  2. Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, 3 dc in ring, turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each dc across, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 space, dc in each dc across, turn.
  4. Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 space, sc in each st across, turn.
  5. Repeat Rows 2 and 3, increasing the number of double crochets as you progress with each row, maintaining the pattern of increasing at the edges and in the center.
  6. Continue until the shawl measures approximately 24.5” tall or desired length.
  7. End with a sc row for a clean edge.
  8. Border: Finish with a shell stitch border. Ch 1, sc in first st, *skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sc in next st* repeat from * to * along the entire edge.
  9. Fasten off and weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
  10. Block the shawl to shape if desired.

Block your shawl to open up the lace pattern and adjust the shape. Secure any loose ends.
