Crochet Delicate Lacy Pinecone Ornament Pattern

Materials Needed:

• 4 Ply Cotton Knitting Yarn in Brown and Cream
• 4 mm Crochet Hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle

• Slip Stitch (sl st)
• Chain Stitch (ch)
• Single Crochet (sc)
• Double Crochet (dc)
• Triple Crochet (tr)

Instructions:

Base of the Pinecone:

1. With Brown Yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Chain 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 9 dc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. (10 dc)
3. Round 2: Ch 3, *(dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc) repeat from * around. Join with a sl st. (15 dc)
4. Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in the next 2 dc, 2 dc in the next dc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st. (20 dc)

Lacy Pinecone Body:

1. Round 4: Change to Cream Yarn. Ch 1, sc in the same st, *(ch 3, skip 1 dc, sc in the next dc) repeat from * around. Join with a sl st.
2. Round 5: Ch 3, 2 tr in the first ch 3 space, *(sc in the next sc, ch 3, 3 tr in the next ch 3 space) repeat from * around. Join with a sl st.

Finishing:

1. Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for hanging.
2. Weave in ends with the tapestry needle.
3. To create a hanging loop, chain 15 with the long tail and attach to the top of the ornament.
